A Thought About Chyna

With the recent death of professional wrestling superstar, Chyna, I think the question that is on everybody’s mind is: “Does Chyna deserve to be in the WWE Hall of Fame?” To me, you’re talking about someone that broke the boundaries of women in wrestling. You’re talking about someone who proved that women could have skill and be entertaining to watch. She truly was a dominating force during the WWF Attitude Era.

Just as the Monday Night Wars were ending in 2001, we saw her leave WWE due to a breakup with Triple H behind the scenes. After having nowhere else to go in the wrestling business, she found her way into the porn industry. During this time, she was known for her heavy drug use with her then boyfriend, X-Pac. Watching her battle her demons was hard for a fan like me. While the WWE was trying to forget that Chyna ever existed, guys no longer with the company such as Matt Hardy were getting help from WWE to battle his demons while under contract with TNA.

You know it’s not my decision, but I definitely think, as I have said before, that what she did in her life certainly warrants it. There was never anybody like her before her, and there will never be anybody like her after.
– Triple H on Chyna and the WWE Hall of Fame – The Mirror, 2016

A year before Chyna’s passing, there was still a lot of animosity in terms of her chances of entering the WWE Hall of Fame. This was evident when Triple H appeared on the Stone Cold Podcast and used Chyna’s porn career as an excuse as to why she would never be inducted. Interestingly enough, X-Pac was welcomed back to the WWE despite appearing with Chyna in one of her videos. There was obviously more to the story, but now that she has passed on, Triple H seems to have changed his opinion when he recently said to The Mirror, “You know it’s not my decision, but I definitely think, as I have said before, that what she did in her life certainly warrants it. There was never anybody like her before her, and there will never be anybody like her after. It’s certainly warranted and I’m sure at some point when the time is right, hopefully, that could happen.”

We’d like to hear your opinion on the matter. Please leave a comment below.
